St. Kitts & Nevis Makes First Appearance at Goodwill Swimming Championships

The St. Kitts & Nevis Aquatics Federation (SKNAF) proudly celebrates the successful historic debut of St. Kitts & Nevis at the 30th Goodwill Swimming Championships, held from 14–16 August 2026 at the National Aquatics Centre in Balmain, Couva, Trinidad & Tobago.

The 2026 championships marked the first time that St. Kitts & Nevis participated in the Goodwill Swimming Championships, representing another important milestone in the continued development of aquatics within the Federation.

SKNAF received an invitation to participate from the Aquatics Sports Association of Trinidad and Tobago (ASATT) as part of the 30th annual staging of the championships. The competition brought together young swimmers from across the Caribbean, providing athletes with valuable experience racing at a regional level.

Representing St. Kitts & Nevis were swimmers competing in the 9–10, 11–12 and 15–17 age groups, giving the young athletes an opportunity to compete against swimmers from across the region and experience the atmosphere of a major regional championship.

A standout achievement for Team SKN came from Teadrian Tross, who captured bronze in the 50m Freestyle, bringing home the Federation’s first medal from its debut participation at the Goodwill Swimming Championships.

For SKNAF, participation in Goodwill forms an important part of the Federation’s long-term athlete development pathway. Competing at a regional championship of this level allows young swimmers to gain valuable racing experience, build confidence, develop friendships with athletes from across the Caribbean and better understand what is required to compete at future regional and international championships.

SKNAF President Eldon Thomas expressed his pride in the Federation’s historic participation:

“For these young swimmers, this experience was about much more than competing. It was an opportunity to gain valuable race experience, build confidence, meet swimmers from across the region and take another step along their development pathway. We hope this historic first participation will become the beginning of a lasting tradition for St. Kitts & Nevis at the Goodwill Championships.”

The historic participation of Team SKN in Goodwill 2026, highlighted by Teadrian Tross’s bronze-medal performance, represents another significant chapter in the growth of aquatics in St. Kitts & Nevis. As these young athletes continue their swimming journeys, their experience in Trinidad & Tobago will form part of the foundation for the next generation of swimmers proudly representing the Federation on the regional and international stage.
