Troy Nisbett to represent SKN in Swimming at the Paris 2024 Olympics

Troy, at just 15 years old, is not only the youngest athlete but also the first swimmer to represent the federation at the Olympics!

St. Kitts and Nevis were invited to compete in the XXXIII Olympic Games in Paris, scheduled from July 27 to August 4, 2024, where Troy Nisbett, a member on the National Swim Team, was selected to represent the federation in the 50-meter freestyle event. Troy and national swim coach, James Weeks, has left for Paris to start the final preparations for the competition. Later this month, they will be joined by Mr. Eldon Thomas, the President of the St. Kitts Nevis Aquatic Federation along with the other St. Kitts and Nevis Olympic Team members.

Troy, who trains with the Bring it Swim Team at Nevis Aquatic and Sailing Center in Nevis, has been swimming since the age of 6. Due to the lack of swimming facilities, most of his practice, like many swimmers in St. Kitts and Nevis, takes place in the ocean. Nonetheless, this hasn’t hindered the federation from making an impact on the global stage. Troy previously represented the St. Kitts & Nevis colors at the World Championship in Doha in February and, at the end of March, Troy and Skyla Connors represented SKN at the CARIFTA Aquatics Championship in the Bahamas.

Swimming has been present at every Olympic Games of the modern era. At the games, swimming events are held in a pool measuring 50 meters in length. The venue, Paris la Defense Arena in Nanterre is a truly exceptional facility in terms of its scale, capacity and technology.
